“Coding Playground for Kids”
with the idea of turning this school into a playful playground for learning to code, we crafted this project to bring that vision to life. 🔵 🟢 🟡 🔴
Background
Spark Coding Lab is a coding school for kids under Spark Education, a brand offering game-based learning platforms designed to develop analytical thinking through expertly crafted educational games.
Brief 📑
create a visual identity that reflects childlike curiosity, learning, and technology. a look that feels lively, comforting, and welcoming, so kids feel free to think, explore, and experiment without fear.
From the client’s brief and background, we crafted the following design direction. ➡
1. Hidden Elements Inside the Visual Identity
Logo — What inspired it?
first, we designed six logo concepts, each incorporating playful colors inspired by a kids’ playground, along with unique character elements that communicate different positioning directions.

Final Design
the client selected concept 6, as it most clearly expressed the essence of coding. we then refined and developed the chosen direction based on feedback until achieving the final polished version.

Color Choices
we chose a vibrant palette of yellow, red, green, and blue, inspired by classic playground equipment. from a psychology perspective, these colors feel modern, youthful, and emotionally expressive:
- Blue: Focus, clarity, and analytical thinking
- Yellow: Excitement and brightness
- Red: Courage and bold thinking
- Green: Calmness and relaxation

Font Selection
we selected LINE Seed Sans, and Poppins a free-source typeface, for its balanced character proportions—not too tall or narrow—and its rounded corners that perfectly complement the overall brand personality.

Element
the starburst motif represents the spark of ideas—those “aha!” moments when kids discover solutions or learn something new. we developed this as a key visual element, and it can even be constructed from parts of the logo to form a star.

Brand Visual CI Book Guideline
all design components were compiled into a Brand CI Book, providing clear guidelines for the client to further grow and expand the brand with consistency.

2. mascot design
The client’s brief was: If we can create a character that reflects the four course levels, that would be ideal, as it helps tell the students’ learning journey in a more engaging way.
We began the design process by developing two main concepts:
1. Inspired by inanimate objects
Using ideas from non-living forms such as blocks or jigsaw pieces that can be assembled. From this, we created a character named “Mr. Spark”, inspired by the spark symbol in the logo.
2. Human-shaped concept
Designing the character as a game-style NPC who accompanies students throughout the course.

Final Design: The client selected the human-inspired idea, so we refined and developed it further based on their comments and the brief.
The final outcome became four small robot characters, each representing a course level.
- The original human concept evolved into small robot forms, as robots symbolize technology more effectively.
- Each robot’s color corresponds to a different course level and is easy to apply across various materials.
- Their eyes were designed to express emotions in a charming and relatable way.
- Once the concept and main prototypes were approved, we designed 10 expressive poses to communicate different emotions.
3. plan for communicate – and publish
we also designed launch-phase social media content to help boost brand awareness and introduce Spark Coding Lab to the audience.
- we planned a content calendar for each topic and rollout phase.
- all artwork was crafted to match the visual identity.
- every detail was considered — from layout to captions.
- every post was client-approved before publishing.

4. brochure design
Designed a promotional brochure for the new store opening.
